Cardinal Rips Iranian's Remarks on Holocaust

ROME, DEC. 15, 2005 (Zenit.org).- A cardinal assailed Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's claim that the Holocaust was a myth, condemning the view as a shocking injustice to the victims of the Nazi genocide.

Cardinal Walter Kasper, who oversees the Holy See's Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews, targeted Ahmadinejad in a speech today as the Vatican prelate accepted an award from the Anti-Defamation League.

"It is shocking to hear from the mouth of the president of a nation with an ancient and venerable culture … expressions of anti-Semitism which for every human being are unacceptable," he said, according to Reuters.
