A Virtual Holy Land Pilgrimage

NAZARETH, Israel, MAY 20, 2007 (Zenit.org).- Faithful worldwide can now take a tour of the Basilica of the Annunciation in Jerusalem, and receive a personal blessing from a priest, without ever leaving home.

A new Web site -- www.mirezo.com -- allows visitors to make a virtual pilgrimage to the basilica, and with an offering of $10 the pilgrim will receive a personal blessing from a priest in a live Web cast from the church.

The virtual visitor can watch the priest at the basilica lighting the candle at the main altar, and then personally bless the pilgrim. The Web cast can be saved on a Web account.

"Mi rezo" is Spanish for "my prayer."

The money received from the donations of the users will go to the Catholic community in the city of Nazareth, whose inhabitants include Israelis and Palestinians, Christians, Muslims and Jews.
