MOBILE, Alabama, APRIL 2, 2008 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI named Bishop Thomas Rodi of Biloxi as the archbishop of Mobile.
Archbishop-designate Rodi, 59, succeeds Archbishop Oscar Lipscomb, 76, who will remain as administrator of the archdiocese until his successor's formal installation in June.
As of 2004, the Archdiocese of Mobile had more than 65,000 Catholics served by 101 diocesan priests and 61 permanent deacons.
