Indiana Museum to Exhibit "Sacred Spain"

By Patricia Navas

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, SEPT. 24, 2009 (<A href="http://www.zenit.org">Zenit.org</A>).- Some 70 works of religious art will give a look into the religious belief of 17th century spain when "Sacred Spain: Art and Belief in the Hispanic World" opens next month in Indiana.

The exhibit begins Oct. 11 and will close Jan. 3, 2010, at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Suso Mourelo, the museum's coordinator of exhibitions, explained to ZENIT that "above all," the exhibit is an effort "to present to the visitor a profound reflection on the visual experience that takes place in the intersection between belief and creative imagination."

The 70 works of "Sacred Spain" include paintings, polychrome sculpture, metalwork and books, many of which have never before been seen in the United States.
