Tuning In to the Synod on Africa


VATICAN CITY, OCT. 6, 2009 (Zenit.org).- The Vatican Television Center is making it possible to tune in via internet to key moments of the Second Special Assembly for Africa of the Synod of Bishops, which began Sunday in Rome.

Benedict XVI's opening Mass was one of the events made available to the faithful. The 9:30 a.m., Rome time, closing Mass on Oct. 25 will also be broadcast.

The Pope's praying of the rosary with university students at Paul VI Hall will also be shown. It is planned for this Saturday at 5 pm., local time.

In addition, the site will offer this Sunday's 10:00 a.m. Mass during which the Holy Father will canonize four saints.

The U.S. episcopal conference has also launched a Web page to help the faithful follow the synod.

The page will include a blog written by Archbishop Wilton Gregory of Atlanta, who is a participant in the assembly.
