Pope Requests Prayers, Now and After His Death

ZADAR, Croatia, JUNE 9, 2003 (Zenit.org).- At the end of his third trip to Croatia, John Paul II again requested that prayer be offered for him during his life and after his death.

The Pope made this request when he visited the Shrine of Our Lady of Trsat, in Rijeka, where, according to tradition, the House of Nazareth was kept from 1291 to 1294, before being transported to Loreto, Italy.

"In name of the communion lived during this rosary, pray for me during my life and after my death," the Pope asked his listeners, the majority of whom were Franciscan men and women religious, who look after the shrine.

John Paul II made this same request in August 2002 at Poland's Marian Shrine of Kalwaria.
