SARAJEVO, Bosnia, AUG. 22, 2003 (Zenit.org).- A Bosnian Muslim was sentenced to six months in prison by a court of Zenica for sending e-mails threatening to kill John Paul II during his trip to Croatia last June.
Almir Abdulah, 23, sent the threatening messages, with the signature of the Mujahedin Islamic Front, to the Croatian agency Hina and IKA Catholic press agency.
Judge Branko Peric said the investigation revealed that the young Bosnian had no serious intention of carrying out his threats.
Nevertheless, the judge said his imposed the sentence "as it is a serious offense directed to the Pope at a time when the whole world is worried by the increase of terrorism."
