Advent a Time to Prepare, John Paul II Says

VATICAN CITY, NOV. 26, 2003 (Zenit.org).- John Paul II invited Christians to make Advent a time of preparation for a personal encounter with Christ.

The Pope made this appeal when greeting Polish pilgrims, shortly before the conclusion of the general audience, held today in Paul VI Hall.

The Holy Father reminded his audience that next Sunday is the beginning of Advent.

"It is a special time to educate ourselves in vigilant preparation for our encounter with Christ at Christmas, who will manifest himself fully as King and Lord in the glory of heaven," he said. "I wish all a good preparation for the Christmas celebrations."
