Boston Archbishop Warns Youth About

BOSTON, Massachusetts, FEB. 10, 2004 (Zenit.org).- Archbishop Sean O'Malley of Boston called on young people to resist influences such as television that threaten to "brainwash" them.

He also said society would be well-served if Catholic politicians and other leaders were to live according to the teachings of their faith, the Boston Herald reported.

"MTV packages it in a very attractive way for our young people,'' the archbishop told 1,300 Catholic teens assembled Saturday at Merrimack College in North Andover.

"But it's poisonous," he said, "be aware that there are people out there who want to brainwash you. Don't let yourself be brainwashed.''
