American Appointed as Papal Nuncio in Zimbabwe

VATICAN CITY, AUG. 23, 2002 (Zenit.org).- John Paul II appointed U.S.-born Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams as apostolic nuncio in Zimbabwe. To date, he had been apostolic nuncio in Bangladesh.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1944, Archbishop Adams has a degree in canon law and has been in the Vatican diplomatic service since 1976.
He worked in Rwanda and, later, in the Vatican State Secretariat. Before being appointed to the Bangladesh post in 1996, Archbishop Adams had worked in the nunciatures of Kenya, Honduras, Ireland, Denmark and the Czech Republic.
