Anglican at Papal Inauguration

LONDON, APRIL 24, 2005 (Zenit.org).- The Anglican archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, is the second primate of the Church of England to attend a papal inauguration Mass since the Reformation, his office clarified.

An earlier press statement from the same office, reported by ZENIT, stated that he is the first. Anglican Archbishop Donald Coggan attended the inauguration of John Paul II in 1978.
