Applications are still open to attend a conference in Austria this week that will examine how a free and virtuous society is crucial in pursuing the common good.

The September 11-14 conference, held by the Europa Institut, is an annual series of intensive seminars for future leaders. Aimed at students and young professionals with a Christian background, the conference will take place in Seebenstein near Vienna.

“By combining an in-depth treatment of economic principles, social justice and Christian anthropology, these conferences introduce participants to the moral foundations of seeking the common good through personal and economic liberty, self-responsibility and care for your neighbour,” the institute says. “In addition, these seminars focus on applying economic liberty to complex issues such as poverty, welfare reform, and globalization.”

It adds that although conference participants come from a variety of backgrounds and countries, “all share a commitment to Christian anthropology and a respect for the rights of individuals.”

Registration costs €95, but the organisers say they will deduct the fee from any transport costs incurred by participants.
