In October 2012 in Rome, the entire Church directed its gaze towards the “New Evangelization” in the XIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.

The term “New Evangelization” is nothing new in the language of the Church. Blessed John Paul II used it when he spoke about commitment of the bishops, priests and every faithful Christian, “Not of re-evangelization, but rather of a new evangelization; new in its ardor, methods and expression.” As the topic of the Synodal Assembly indicates, the objective of new evangelization is the transmission of the Faith.  In these times in which we live, there are many who respond to the command of the Lord under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, giving testimony to the Faith.  Every Christian should desire to do so.

A Christian who evangelizes realizes that it is Christ who works the miracle of conversion in the hearts of the people whom he meets. The narration of the miraculous catch shows us how, with the voice and command of Jesus: “Cast the net over the right side” (Jn. 21:6), the apostles, after having spent the entire night without catching anything, collect a large number of fish.

H.M. Television and EUK Mamie Foundation released new video series entitled “Cast the Nets” that collects the testimonies of many who are responding to the call to the New Evangelization.  The series details relates the experiences of those who felt the calling to speak about Christ.

“In their testimonies, they tell us how they are not concerned about whether they are listened to or not, but rather, like a man who finds a spring of water in the desert, they are going to tell the good news to everyone,” a press release from the EUK Mamie Foundation states. “They tell their personal experiences of how they go out to evangelize and speak about God.  They share their enthusiasm and joy of evangelizing, without hiding the sufferings that they may go through  to announce Christ. We hope that with this program many Christians may be moved by seeing the fruits and also become collaborators in the New Evangelization.”
