PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, NOV. 1, 2004 (Zenit.org).- A monsignor who published a simplified version of John Paul II's "theology of the body" catecheses has now produced what he says is an easy-to-read Catechism of the Catholic Church.
The new 358-page book includes the basic content of every paragraph of the entire Catechism -- in fewer words.
Each paragraph retains the original number for easy reference. Many footnotes that quote sources such as saints, councils and Scripture are put into the main text. A simplified Subject Index is also included. Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia has written the Foreword.
Monsignor Vincent Walsh, who produced the simplified work, also produced a simplified version of Karol Wojtyla's "Love and Responsibility" and the Pope's encyclical "Ecclesia de Eucharistia."
The simplified Catechism retails for $15. Parishes and institutions can receive lower prices for their members. To order, contact email@example.com.
