LONDON, OCT. 5, 2001 (Zenit.org).- Catholics and Anglicans are working to reach an agreement on a crucial point of their differences: the dogmas of the immaculate conception of Mary and her assumption into heaven.
Members of the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCIC) met last month at Dublin´s College of Education and agreed in principle on the preparation of a joint declaration on Mary´s role in the life and doctrine of the Church. The document is expected to take two years to complete.
Father Don Bolen, Catholic secretary of ARCIC and member of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity, reported the news to the Catholic Herald.
