The colloquium has been organized and promoted by the Pontifical Council for the Laity in collaboration with International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services (ICCRS), the organization that promotes Charismatic Renewal in the Church and coordinates the activities of the charismatic communities at a worldwide level.

The initiative was inspired by the “Instruction on Prayers to Obtain Healing from God” (http://www.zenit.org/english/archive/documents/CDF_healing.html), published Sept. 14, 2000, by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Archbishop Tarcisio Bertone, secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, will present the main guidelines of the document.

Other scheduled speakers include:

–Father Fidel Gonzales, new rector of the Pontifical Urban University, who will give an historical analysis of healing in the Tradition of the Church.

–Bishop Jacques Perrier, of Tarbes and Lourdes, will speak on the relevance of this topic for shrines and places of pilgrimages.

–Bishop Francesco Pio Tamburrino, secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, will speak on the link between healing and the sacraments.

A round table will reflect on the practice of exorcism and on the spiritual, physical and psychological components linked to healing.
