Czech Flood Relief Is Sought

PRAGUE, Czech Republic, AUG. 21, 2002 (Zenit.org).- Caritas-Czech Republic launched an urgent appeal for help for victims of the recent floods.

Caritas International already has made it possible to collect $400,000 of the $800,000 requested.

Assistance to the country includes first aid, potable water, food and clothing, and home and water-purifying equipment.

As of Monday, extensive flooding in the western half of the country had killed about 15 people and caused more than $2 billion in damage during the previous week, the Associated Press reported.
