Czechs Showing Interest in New Church Movements

PRAGUE, Czech Republic, APR. 30, 2001 (Zenit.org).- A meeting here of new ecclesial movements and communities drew more than 20 groups and 5,000 participants over the weekend.

“A New Evangelization for the New Millennium” was the topic for the meeting, the second such gathering in this highly secularized country of 10.2 million people.

Cardinal Miloslav Vlk, archbishop of Prague, opened the meeting. Speakers included Focolare founder Chiara Lubich and representatives from the Sant´Egidio, Emmanuel and Light-Life communities.
