Pope Francis will participate Friday evening in a prayer vigil to be held in St. Peter’s Square, sponsored by the Italian family-led movement “Movemento dell’Amore Familiare.”

The evening’s theme is “Let’s unite around the Bishop of Rome, His person, and His role as head of the Universal Church, as a humble and loving shepherd of God’s people.”

During the vigil, which will mark its ten-year anniversary this year, families will pray for Pope Francis and his pontificate, thereby responding to the Holy Father’s continued call for the faithful to pray for him.

Cardinal Angelo Comastri, archpriest of St. Peter’s Basilica, will preside over the event, which will run from 9 pm to 10 pm. (D.C.L.)
