The 13th edition of Pro-Life Week will open May 3 in Bayreuth with the motto “Possibilities and Limits of Medical Progress,” the SIR agency reported.

The chosen topics are timely in a society so “highly complex and technological” which has an “incontestable need for ethical guidance,” said Cardinal Karl Lehmann, president of the bishops’ conference.

“Advances in research and technology reinforce the discussion on questions of the ethics of science, of medicine, bioethics and the protection of life,” he said.
