The agreement between the hospital and the Italo-Latin American Institute was signed in the presence of Archbishop Luis Robles Díaz, vice president of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America.

Over the next five years, the Bambino Gesù hospital’s teams of specialists will offer pediatric assistance and technical surgical advice to health structures in Latin American countries using the latest technology for tele-medicine and tele-consultation, the hospital said in a statement.

The hospital will also accept child patients from Latin America suffering from particularly serious and complex diseases, the agreement states.

The signed text also includes the resolution to help develop professional pediatric training for Latin American health care workers, and to provide scholarships for Latin American students in the area of pediatrics and nutrition.
