Archbishop Cyril Mar Baselios, in his message published by the Misna missionary agency, said that life “is seriously challenged in the contemporary world of scientific progress and technological advancement. The evils of abortion and euthanasia are wantonly practiced with no qualms about it.”

“Although life is to be preserved and nurtured, it is subjected to gross abuse, which has resulted in the loss of the sense of its sacredness,” he states.

The archbishop notes that the materialistic world has ignored the value of life. However, he said, the feast of Easter brings hope for regaining the sacredness of life on earth and its fullness after death.

Quoting Jesus’ phrase, “I have come that you may have life, life to the fullest measure,” Archbishop Baselios said that the Easter celebration is a reminder of that promise of Christ and that all are invited to participate in the fullness of life.
