Isn't It Ironic?

It is ironic that throughout human history thousands have been punished by death -- often massacred -- by their own countrymen for "crimes" of being the wrong religion, political party, wrong race, etc. without benefit of trial, legal defense, or even self-defense. Yet our efforts are spent opposing a government trying to enforce justice to the best of its ability.
