Last Days to Register for Festival at World Youth Day

VATICAN CITY, DEC. 18, 2001 (Zenit.org).- Friday is the last day to register for the Youth Festival at next year´s World Youth Day in Toronto.

“WYD 2002´s Youth Festival will bring young people together, allowing them to express their traditions, cultures, languages and experience of the world,” the organizers explained in a press statement.

WYD 2002 participants will share their artistic, religious and spiritual experiences at more than 200 events, including performances, exhibits, discussion groups, cafés and prayer meetings.

The Youth Festival will be held from July 24-27. Events will take place at locations across Toronto with major gatherings at Exhibition Place. Those wishing to participate should write to festival@wyd2002.org.

The entertaining music, theater and dance performances in venues around Toronto will be open to professional and emerging artists.

Exhibits will showcase art and culture from around the world. Exhibits on vocations, social service and social justice at Exhibition Place are also planned. An exhibit of artworks from the Vatican Museums will be held at a Toronto museum during World Youth Day.

Discussion groups for young people will be open to professionals in the fields of medicine, law, media and education, as well as university students, parents, artists and people considering a vocation.

Cafés across Toronto will host World Youth Day participants and offer a place to meet, listen to music or a speaker, and use the Internet.
