Misna Agency Wins an "Italian Pulitzer"

ROME, JULY 18, 2002 (Zenit.org).- Recognized as “the best service that has appeared on Internet,” the work of the Misna missionary news agency has been awarded the St. Vincent Prize, the most prestigious in Italy.

Comboni missionary Father Giulio Albanese, Misna director, received the certificate of the award Wednesday from Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.

This “Italian Pulitzer” is promoted by the autonomous region of Val d’Aosta and sponsored by the presidency. It enjoys the collaboration of the National Federation of the Italian Press and the College of Journalists.

Misna, or the Missionary Service News Agency, focuses on the Southern Hemisphere. Founded in 1997, it publishes 30 articles daily on current events and 40 specialized services a month.

The agency publishes in English, French and Italian, and has nine lay journalists and a secretary in addition to the director.
