A family-friendly comedy called “Moms’ Night Out” is opening today, in time for Mother’s Day.

The film was co-written by Jon Erwin, who also directed it with his brother, Andrew Erwin. The Erwin brothers also directed the pro-life film October Baby.

The comedy stars two-time Emmy Award winner Patricia Heaton, Sarah Drew (Grey’s Anatomy), Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings) and platinum-selling country music star Trace Adkins.

Lead character Allyson (played by Drew) wants a night out with her friends to enjoy a peaceful, grown-up evening of dinner and conversation. But all sorts of things go wrong as the women leave their husbands to watch the kids for three hours. The release states, “‘Moms’ Night Out" is an endearing true-to-life family comedy that celebrates the beautiful mess called parenting.”

“I alternated between snort-laughing out loud and soft, silly sobs while watching this larger than life portrait of the fun, craziness, and beauty of the vocation of motherhood,” says Lisa Hendey, founder of CatholicMom.com and author of The Handbook for Catholic Moms. “The film entertains, but also enlightens, on the true value of every mom’s work and worth. A great film for the whole family!”
