Grzegorz Piotrowski, who was captain of the Political Police of the Communist regime, announced upon his release that he intends to work “as a reporter for an anti-clerical weekly” newspaper in Poland.

After spending 15 years in prison, the former policeman said he is not at all sorry for killing the priest.

Father Popielusko carried out his pastoral ministry among workers. Eventually he became chaplain of the Solidarity movement that played a decisive role in the fall of Communism in Poland.

Known for his Masses for the Fatherland, Father Popielusko was killed at age 37. The diocesan phase of his process of beatification has been completed.
