The Apostleship of Prayer announced this intention, which the Pope makes his own, and for which thousands of bishops, priests, religious and lay people pray and offer sacrifices every month.

The Pope’s general intention for December is: “That the members of all religions may cooperate to alleviate the human sufferings of our time.”

He also offers a prayer every month for the mission. This December it is: “That the Church in the countries where totalitarian regimes still reign, may be given full freedom to carry out her own spiritual mission.”
