An exhibition of photographs taken during Pope Francis’ pastoral visit to Korea is adding atmosphere in the Archdiocese of Seoul. The exhibition features large prints of some of the most memorable moments in the Holy Father’s five-day visit in August. It will be formally opened on Wednesday, October 15.

The exhibition, titled “Rise and Shine,” is hosted by the Communications and Media Affairs Department (Director: Fr. Matthias Hur) of the Archdiocese of Seoul.

Over 50 photographs will be exhibited. The Pope’s handwritten message and signature which he wrote before the ‘Mass for Peace and Reconciliation’ on August 18 will also be made public.

“To the Catholic Community of Seoul,” the Holy Father wrote, “I pray that each day you become the leaven of the Gospel in the city. Please pray for me. May Jesus Christ bless you, and the Holy Virgin takes care of you.”

The table and chair in which Pope Francis sat when he wrote the message will also be displayed in the gallery.

The holy vessels used during the Beatification Mass, a bronze medal with carved image of the 124 martyrs given to the Archdiocese as a gift from the Pope, and other items used during the papal visit can also be found in the exhibition.

“Through the photo exhibition, we hope to bring back the touching moments of the Holy Father’s visit to our country,” said Fr. Matthis Hur. “We pray that everyone will keep in mind the important things that Pope Francis has taught us: the spirituality of reconciliation and forgiveness.”

An opening ceremony will be held on October 15.
