VATICAN CITY, JAN. 14, 2007 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI urged the faithful of Poland to listen to the word of Christ in difficult moments.
The Pope made this comment today in the wake of the recent resignation of Archbishop Stanislaw Wielgus of Warsaw, who has admitted to collaborating with the Communist secret police.
After reciting the Angelus with those gathered in St. Peter's Square, the Holy Father gave in Polish the same advice Mary gave to the servants at the wedding of Cana: "Do whatever he tells you."
The Pontiff expressed his hopes that these words would be an encouragement, "especially in difficult moments of life, when we are seeking the truth and help of God."
Benedict XVI did not make this specific reference when greetings the crowds in five other languages.
