Holy Father Expresses Spiritual Closeness, Imparts Blessing on Loved Ones of Those Lost

Pope Francis has sent his heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of those killed in a bus crash in Southwestern France, claiming 43 lives..

In a telegram that Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin sent on behalf of Pope Francis to Archbishop Jean-Pierre Richard of Bordeaux, France, the Pope expressed his spiritual closeness to the injured and to the families of those involved.

The road accident, which involved a crash of a truck and a bus carrying elderly people, took place Friday at Puisseguin, near Bordeaux. French President Francois Hollande called the accident an “immense tragedy.”

In the telegram, Pope Francis affirmed that he joins in prayer in the suffering of the bereaved families, and commends the victims to God’s mercy “so that He may welcome them in His light.” 

As a pledge of consolation, the Argentine Pope offered a special Apostolic Blessing to all those affected by the tragedy.
