He also emphasized “faithfulness to personal and community prayer” and “attention to fraternal life” when he received the disciples of St. Francis of Assisi in audience Saturday.

The Holy Father greeted the new minister general of the Franciscans Conventual, American Friar Joachim Anthony Giermek, and thanked his predecessor, Friar Agostino Gardin, for his work.

The Friars Minor Conventual are holding their general chapter, which began on Jan. 29 and will end Feb. 24, in Ariccia, near Rome.
