The Holy Father expressed this wish at the end of his meeting with pilgrims attending the general audience in the courtyard of the papal summer residence of Castel Gandolfo, some 18 miles from Rome, where he is spending his summer holidays.

“I invite you, dear young people, to dedicate part of the summer vacation to significant experiences of solidarity,” he said in a clearer voice than in recent days. This is an invitation the Pope has repeated on several occasion to youth in his public meetings.

Among the pilgrims were several newlyweds. When greeting them, the Pope said that he hoped they would “be able to enjoy during their vacation the serenity of their union.”
