WASHINGTON, SEPT. 26, 2004 (Zenit.org).- Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life and president of the National Pro-life Religious Council, unveiled an extensive million dollar multi-media campaign aimed at church-goers.

“We intend to conduct an all-out campaign in the final weeks before the election,” said Fr. Pavone, and “deliver a clear message to all citizens: Abortion is not simply one issue in this election; it is the most fundamental human rights issue of our time.”

Saying that abortion is morally equal to terrorism, the director said that “any candidate who supports abortion has no right to hold any kind of public office, just as anyone who supports terrorism should not be allowed to hold public office.”

Church-goers are the target audience as they tend to vote in favor of pro-life candidates.

“Between now and Nov. 2, churchgoers of every stripe and in every part of this nation will hear this message in daily and weekly sermons, in church bulletins, church parking lots, and in the religious and secular media. We intend to motivate Catholic and Protestant churchgoers to go out and vote this year in record numbers.”

Elements of the campaign will include two television programs to be aired on EWTN and the Sky Angel Cable Network, TV spots on cable access channels, newspaper ads in diocesan newspapers, direct contact with parish priests and pro-life leaders urging them to mobilize their pro-life resources and promote pro-life candidates, a voter guide, direct e-mail, internet sites, conferences and a prayer campaign.
