SAN FRANCISCO, DEC. 10, 2012 (Zenit.org).- A film based on St. Augustine’s “Confessions” continues to draw large crowds in the United States.
Ignatius Press, the North American distributor of “Restless Heart: The Confessions of Augustine,” has announced that it will continue theatrical screenings into next year.
“We are very gratified by the response to ‘Restless Heart,’ which we believed would be a wonderful tool for evangelization during the Year of Faith,” said Ignatius President Mark Brumley. “We continue to experience strong interest across the country, so we will make the film available for hosted theatrical screenings into the first quarter of next year.”
“People are responding to ‘Restless Heart’ in remarkable ways,” added Ignatius Director of Marketing Anthony Ryan. “We continue to hear reports of sold-out shows, and have groups adding showings to accommodate the interest in their areas.
“St. Augustine of Hippo is one of the most beloved saints in all of Christendom, and ‘Restless Heart’ gives audiences the opportunity to experience his life and conversion through an epic film that is very well-done.”
The screenplay is based on St. Augustine’s landmark book “Confessions”; it tells his life story in his own words.
“The movie was an outstanding performance,” said a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish in Edwardsville, Illinois. “There were many beautiful and wonderful moments, particularly his conversion. As an opening to the Year of Faith, it was a perfect way to usher in the spirit of our faith.”
Dioceses, parishes, other groups and individuals can host theatrical screenings.
“We encourage anyone who has been contemplating a screening of this amazing film to schedule one,” Ryan said. “The reports we are getting suggest that these movie events draw large crowds and are inspiring people in many different ways.”
