VATICAN CITY, FEB. 6, 2006 (Zenit.org).- The Ordinary Council of the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops on the Eucharist met recently to elaborate an outline to assist Benedict XVI in writing a postsynodal document.
The outline will include the 50 proposals made by participants in that synod, held last October.
The council, made up of 12 members chosen by the synod and by three others appointed by the Pope, met on Jan. 30-31 to structure these proposals, the Vatican press office reported today.
Archbishop Nikola Eterovic, secretary-general of the Synod of Bishops, recalled at the meeting that this council is part of the collaboration with the Holy Father, who \"announced publicly that the fruit of the whole synodal process will be gathered and elaborated in a papal document.\"
The council, divided in two linguistic working groups (English and Italian), also analyzed the methodological novelties that Benedict XVI introduced in the synod, such as the free interventions, \"unanimously appreciated.\"
The council plans to meet again June 1-2.
