“The jury has shown preference for redemption films,” stated Alfa and Omega in announcing its 10th annual awards.
“The Passion,” film “par excellence on the event of the Redemption,” won six prizes. Other films such as “The Incredibles” and the French film “Children of the Choir” won as “stories of daily redemption,” said Alfa and Omega.
The films awarded “talk about reconstruction of the person, of hope, of the uncompromising positive spirit of the human being,” the publication said.
Gibson’s “Passion” won the awards for best foreign film, best director, best cinematography, and best film on a Christian event.
Maia Morgenstern and Jim Caviezel won, respectively, best actress and best actor for their performances in the film.
“The Incredibles” won best children’s film, and “The Profession of Arms” won best historical film. Jamie Foxx won best supporting actor for his performance in “Collateral.”
“The Passion of the Christ” will be reissued in Spanish movie houses March 18, just before Holy Week.
