The Holy See’s Philatelic and Numismatic Office announced today that the issue of coins, very much in demand by collectors, will be restricted to one window next to the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls.

In this way, problems of security and public order will be avoided in the Vatican offices at this time, when Rome is crowded with pilgrims and tourists.

Euros with the Pope’s effigy are issued in a very limited series. Last year, the stock of coins was sold out the first day.
