Vatican Seminar to Focus on Business Ethics

VATICAN CITY, MARCH 4, 2004 (Zenit.org).- A two-day study seminar on ethical business practices is planned this week at the Vatican.

On Friday and Saturday some 70 businesspeople, experts and university professors from 27 countries will gather at the headquarters of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace to address the theme “The Businessman: Social Responsibility and Globalization.”

Corruption in business and politics, the fate of company profits, and the cultural impact of advertising and marketing policies are among the topics that will be discussed at the meeting by the council and the International Christian Union of Business Executives (UNIAPAC).

The seminar takes place as the Council for Justice and Peace continues to prepare a compendium of the fundamental principles of the Church’s social doctrine, a UNIAPAC statement said.
