Vodafone Signs Vatican Onto Its Network

VATICAN CITY, MAY 14, 2010 (Zenit.org).- The Governorate of Vatican City State signed a three-year agreement with Vodafone-Italy for the management of its mobile phone services.

“The agreement makes provision for around 2,000 users,” indicated a joint communiqué of the Governorate of Vatican City State and the mobile phone company.
 
“Vodafone won the tender called by the Governorate of Vatican City State with which it has stipulated a three-year contract, also by virtue of its extensive presence on the international scene and the high standards of service it guarantees,” the note added.
 
Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, secretary-general of the Governorate of Vatican City State, and Pietro Guindani, president of Vodafone-Italy, witnessed the signing of the agreement.
 
Three days ago, the Governorate of Vatican City State signed another agreement with Telecom-Italy for the installation of a modern, fiber-optic infrastructure of communication.
