WASHINGTON, D.C., OCT. 29, 2003 (Zenit.org).- The Bush administration plans to recruit the Catholic Church and other organizations to help set up a mentoring program for new immigrants, Reuters reported.
The program, to be launched on a pilot basis within six months, will pair new immigrants with host families that will help them better adapt to life in the United States, the news agency reported today.
"To get those programs running … we are going to have to establish strategic alliances with community organizations," said Alfonso Aguilar, who heads the Office of Citizenship, part of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
