Entitled “Witness To Hope,” it is based on the biography of the same name, by George Weigel.

Members of the Roman Curia were on hand for the two-hour documentary, a co-production of Italian and Polish public television.

The original film was recorded in English under the direction of Catherine Wyler, daughter of “Ben Hur” director William Wyler, and Judy Hallet, special director of documentaries. Karol Wojtyla´s life is reconstructed with pictures from the archives, and with dramatized re-creations.

The first 75 minutes of the production are dedicated to Wojtyla´s life before he was elected Bishop of Rome. The rest of the program reproduces some of the highlights of his close to 23-year pontificate.
