TORONTO, FEB. 24, 2003 (Zenit.org).- Basilian Father Thomas Rosica, the national director and chief executive officer of World Youth Day 2002, will become CEO of Canada's first national Catholic television network.
Effective July 1, Father Rosica takes up the post at Salt and Light Television, according to an announcement by Frank Gagliano and Rudy De Siato, chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of St. Joseph's Corporation, the parent of the TV network.
Before his work on World Youth Day 2002, Father Rosica served as executive director and pastor of the Newman Center Catholic Mission at the University of Toronto and lectured on Scripture at universities in Toronto, London and Windsor.
Salt and Light Television will be relaunched as a not-for-profit, charitable organization starting in March. The Catholic network is currently available in Ontario. Over the next year it will be introduced nationally.
The channel's programming will also evolve to be multilingual and include such languages as English, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Polish. The network's growing list of partnerships includes Telepace, SAT 2000, Pauline Communication Network and Eternal Word Television Network.
