Remaining Neutral

Article: Calling a Crusade; Europe's True Foundations

In her article about crucifixes on the walls of state schools in Italy, Elizabeth Lev indicates she has no respect for the religious freedom of others.

By having a symbol of one religion in state schools, students are implicitly told which religion the state favors, and that their religious views, if different, are not as important as the state's favored religion.

Real religious freedom requires that the state remain neutral, by not promoting nor denigrating other people's religious views. There is no way the state can remain neutral with crucifixes on state school walls.
