VATICAN CITY, NOV. 25, 2009 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI today began reflecting on next Sunday's beginning of Advent, urging youth to be mindful of what he called an "intense time."
The Pope spoke of Advent in his customary conclusive greetings at the general audience in Paul VI Hall.
He reminded youth, the sick and newlyweds that next Sunday begins the liturgical preparation for Christmas.
"I exhort you, young people, to live this 'intense time' with vigilant prayer and generous evangelical commitment," the Holy Father said. "I encourage you, sick people, to sustain with the offer of your sufferings the Christian peoples' path of preparation for Holy Christmas.
"I hope you, newlyweds, will be witnesses of the Spirit of love that animates and sustains the whole Family of God."
