Book-Interview to Give Pope's Perspective

VATICAN CITY, AUG. 31, 2010 (Zenit.org).- The Vatican has announced that a new book-interview with Benedict XVI can be expected before the end of the year.

Last month, the Pope sat down with German journalist Peter Seewald to answer a series of questions raised by the author.

While he was prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger already granted Seewald two series of interviews, published as books: "Salt of the Earth" (1996) and "God and the World" (2002).

The German-language conversations for this book took place during the week of July 26-31 in Castel Gandolfo.

The Vatican communiqué announced publication in "a rather brief time -- before the end of the current year -- in Italian and German and, if possible, also in other languages."
